Filleadh ar an gCathair
Celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge with Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh and Una Ní Fhlannagáin (harp) and Emer Ní Fhlaithearta.
Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh is considered one of the most exciting voices in Irish language poetry today. Her work spans both the urban and rural divide and her reading will highlight the richness of the Irish language, not only in terms of exploring more rural or traditional themes, but also in terms of conveying the frenetic pace and busyness of modern-day life.
Kerry born Ailbhe has undertaken readings in Paris, New York, Montreal and Boolteens, Co Kerry. She won the 2012 O’Neill Poetry Prize for her poem ‘Deireadh na Feide’. Filleadh ar an gCathair was chosen as Ireland’s EU Presidency poem 2013 and was shortlisted for RTÉ’s ‘A Poem for Ireland’. Coiscéim published her first collection of poetry entitled Péacadh in 2008 and Tost agus Allagar (2016) is her most recent collection.
