We are delighted to announce the successful launch of our bilingual Youth Club, which began in November 2023 under the visionary leadership of Bernard Mac Oscair. Initially established for students in 6th class, the club has experienced remarkable growth and enthusiasm from participants. Due to this positive response, we are excited to expand the club for the coming year to include not only 6th class students but also those entering their first year of secondary school.

Throughout this inaugural year, the Youth Club has offered a diverse and engaging programme of activities designed to encourage the use and enjoyment of the Irish language in a fun, relaxed environment. Our young members had the opportunity to participate in a variety of events, including an educational and entertaining visit to Causey’s Farm, kayaking adventures, quiz nights, and lively debates. Informal gatherings with tea, biscuits, and friendly conversation provided a warm and welcoming space for the youth to practice Irish naturally. Additionally, board games and a broad range of sporting activities, all conducted through Irish, further enriched their experience.

Our ongoing goal is to continuously find innovative and enjoyable ways to promote the Irish language among the youth of our community. The Youth Club has proven to be a vibrant, interactive platform where young people can develop their language skills, build friendships, and deepen their cultural connection in a supportive and inclusive setting.

We look forward to welcoming more young people next year and continuing to nurture their love and use of the Irish language through exciting and meaningful activities.
