The Killinaboy Conversation Circle has been well established in the XPO for many years. The XPO building, where a range of cultural activities takes place, is owned by the local community in Killinaboy. Events such as singing sessions, book clubs, mapping projects, film screenings, and lectures are held there from time to time.

There is a real sense of growth and development among the group, who are delighted to come together once a week from September to June to speak Irish. They meet every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., except during the summer months – June, July, and August. The Circle has grown steadily over time rather than emerging overnight, with a strong emphasis on spoken Irish and encouraging fluency.

Guest speakers regularly drop in — including poets, writers, and individuals with a special connection to the local environment. Guided walks through the Burren are also organised through Irish with a local guide. A special bond has developed between the Circle and Inis Oírr, with an annual visit taking place at the end of each year. This year’s return visit is planned for the 9th of June.
